WHY VIGYAN-VARTA..?

Since last year we have geared up our science popularization activity on Facebook.

Keeping a vision in our mind we have successfully motivated number of students toward research and promoted interest of scientific happenings among the users.

Since long time I wanted to share the purpose of creating such e-based activities. As we know that our PM; Dr. Manmohan Singh has already vouched about scientific development of India. It seems that WE need a boost now. Our neighbouring country has shown very good record since last 5 years in research and development.

It’s not like a race but we should empower ourselves. The path which will lead us to a radiant future is of course SCIENCE.

Government is going to increase the total R&D spending GDP, to 2% by the end of the 12^th Plan Period from the current level of about 0.9%. But let me tell you one fact a recent survey of 2000 Indian women PhD holders in science which had found 60% of them unemployed.

So it’s really hard for me to accept this thing. We are missing something.

I think we are missing a mass movement of science frontiers. As we have need of Scientists, we need scientific minded citizens too.

One has to work to popularize science through all possible means to mass. The effect can be seen then. A student will have a vision for his/her research from beginning. They will acquire map for future progress as they will know where science is heading. Then the research will not be done just for a PhD degree, but for humanity and welfare of nation.

So I request you to join this movement of science popularization.
