Annular Solar Eclipse 2009

Mother Nature herself is a lab.
Infinite number of experiments continuously occur in her realm.
One of such kind is, Solar Eclipse .
The annular solar eclipse happened in 2009 was a rare, ' ONCE in Lifetime ' ; typed scene.
Our team witnessed the event from Rameshwaram in Tamilnadu.
We have performed many experiments as -

• Atmospheric changes during eclipse
• Microbial growth and food pathogens
• Photographic study of eclipse

And as usual the excitement and enjoy was uncomparable.

Save Lonar Movement

170 kms, from Aurangabad, is the village of Lonar. Over 50,000 years ago, a falling meteorite struck the area creating the worlds largest impact crater in basaltic rock. Botanists have recently discovered vegetation life forms, not found anywhere else on this planet, in the take of the crater. There are small temples along the lake shore.
But because of ' Human Interference ' the place is spoiling day by day.
So our team took initiative and given birth to " Save Lonar Movement ".
Under this activity, we travel to Lonar with more than 200 students every year.
We engage local volunteers with us to clean Crater Rim by collecting Plastic Deposition.
And a Save Lonar march helped us too.

वैश्विक 2009

Promoting Astronomy is one of the target areas of our work.
By keeping same view our team were engaged in planning something HATKE.
The idea was to aware college students about ' Careers in Astronomy '.
So we have arranged one day workshop for students across the city.
The talks were based on areas like - Vision2020, Introduction to the Universe, Careers in astronomy and amateur astronomy.
More than 200 students were enthusiastically participated in this event.
They were provided with " Astro-Kits ", containing star charts, list of astronomical events for the that year and some interesting information.
At the end of day; we introduced them night sky with Telescopes.

It was really enjoyed day for all of us.

तारांगण...

अनंत विश्वाबद्दल मानवाला वाटणारे  आकर्षण हे सर्वज्ञात आहेच.
असंख्य तारे, आकाशगंगा, ग्रहिकांच्या पसाऱ्यात असणारे आपले अस्तित्व नगण्य असले तरी ते निष्फळ अजिबात नाही.
त्यामुळेच जीवन असणारी पृथ्वी  हे एक दुर्मिळ ठिकाण आहे.
पृथ्वीचे स्वतःचे अस्तित्व हे एक विशेष असून त्यावरील मानव हा त्या मालिकेतील प्रमुख निर्मिती आहे.
स्वतःच्या बुद्धीच्या जोरावर त्याने शक्य होईल तेवढे ब्रम्हांड जाणण्याचा प्रयत्न सदैव केलेला आहे आणि तो सुरूच राहणार आहे.
पण तरी मनात खंत असायची की,

सध्या ज्ञात असलेल्या विश्वाची आपल्या देश बांधवांना कितपत माहिती आहे ?
याच प्रश्नाचे उत्तर शोधताना खगोलशास्त्राच्या प्रसाराचा मार्ग दिसला. २००३ पासून आजतागायत अनेक स्लाईड शो'स, आकाशदर्शन, उल्कावर्षाव पाहण्याचे कार्यक्रम , विद्यार्थ्यांचे खगोलवर्ग यातून खागोलाच्या माहिती प्रसाराची मोहीम सुरु झाली, जी आजही कार्यरत आहे.

विज्ञान प्रसार...

विज्ञान प्रसार हाच ध्यास घेऊन आजपर्यंत अनेक उपक्रम यशस्वीपणे पूर्ण केलेत.
अशीच एक जुनी आठवण सर्वांसोबत share करावी असे वाटले.
तीन वर्षांपूर्वी आम्ही जिल्हा परिषदांतर्गत येणाऱ्या शाळेतील शिक्षकांसाठी
" टाकाऊ वस्तूंपासून विज्ञान उपकरणे "
ही कार्यशाळा आयोजित केली होती.
या उपक्रमात १३ जिल्यातील सुमारे ४०० शिक्षक सहभागी झाले होते.
अतिशय सोप्या आणि सहज उपलब्ध वस्तू , तसेच घरातील टाकाऊ घटक वापरून ,
एक छोटीशी वैज्ञानिक प्रयोगशाळाच त्या शिक्षकांनी सोबत बनवून नेली.
विद्यार्थ्यांना सुद्धा अशीच लहान, अगदी त्यांच्या दप्तरात बसेल अशी ही विज्ञान प्रयोगशाला सर्वांच्या प्रयत्नाने तयार झाली. या कामी श्री. अरविंद गुप्ता सरांचे मोलाचे मार्गदर्शन लाभले.
अणि अर्थातच आमच्या सर्व सहकार्यांचे परिश्रम तर अमूल्य होते. शेवटी अशी कामे ही एकत्रितपणे करण्याची मजाच वेगळी असते.
